On Friday the 13th, The Brogan Museum closed indefinitely. I worked there for four months, but in that short time I gained such valuable experience, met some truly wonderful people, and had a ton of fun. Tallahassee in particular does a horrible job of sustaining cultural assets to the community, and it’s a true loss for the city’s children that they won’t get to enjoy this museum or its programs. It will probably reopen someday, but of course it won’t be the same.

So on the last day it was open, I popped in to take some pictures. It was extremely barren, only the permanent second floor exhibits were still in the building. There was none of the amazing art on the third floor or cool exhibit on the first floor. There wasn’t any loud, but happy, noises of patrons and their kids. There were a few employees around. All the aquariums were emptied, the gift shop totally naked. It was a sad sight. I’ll miss that place dearly. Good luck to all my coworkers, you were all truly brilliant and it was a genuine pleasure.
